Voice Commander breaks through
After running a very close 2nd in the group 2 Phar Lap Stakes over the Sydney Autumn Carnival, the SA bred son of Commands out of the Magic Ring mare Voicemail had his first black type win in the $100,000 Listed De Bortoli Festival Stakes (1500m) for trainer Nick Olive at Rosehill Gardens today.
He has a record of six wins from 13 starts and has amassed $268,000 in prizemoney.

Bred by Greg Lesnikowski, Voice Commander had been purchased at the Magic Millions Yearling Sales Adelaide for $55000.

Merry Christmas and a winning weekend!

What a weekend we had! The twilight meeting at Morphettville on the 11th December was a great success with Tolderol Teaparty winning the 0-71 2000m Hcp (watch him, click here). He seems to really love that distance where there is still enough pace on for him get a smooth travel. We will see him again at Morphettville on the 2nd January, new year -new luck!
Redwood Lass also seems to like more distance and didn't run a bad race finishing 3rd in the 2000m Mdn on the same day.
Bell Magic could never get into the race in the 1050m Mdn for her debut, but we admitted it was run very fast and there will be a few sprint-winners coming out of that race. She will have a spell now and should come back more mature and stronger.

As the weekend went on, we had Uli Urs Utz running on the Saturday at Morphettville. The 1200m Class 3 Star of X-mas Hcp seems suited, but he wanted to go a little bit too quick and the classy opponents came past him too quickly at the finish. He really deserves a spell now too after this fantastic first preparation with 3 wins from 6 starts.

The weekend wasn't finished with that though. A long way to Bordertown seemed the right thing to do! Oriental Sling certainly didn't mind the long trip and raced fresh first up to win the 1100m Class 1 Hcp. To make it a family trip, her younger (but bigger) full-sister Oriental Consort got a start in the 1100m Mdn and finished with a nice 4th, not bad for first up, only 2nd start and a lot to learn.
Spinning Spanner is also on the improve to run 3rd in the 1300m Mdn.
We will see both of these with blinkers on at Naracoorte on the 27th December as well as Midgeywah, Scary Smokovec first up and Oriental Sling again.

Skyconi is now back to 1200m on the 30th December at Strathalbyn as he ran a good 3rd over 1350m at Strathalbyn on Wednesday 16th December.

The 3 yearlings for the Magic Million Sale in Adelaide 2010 are now in preparation. You can see some photos on the yearling page click here and you are of course welcome to come and have a look, just contact Greg.

Already Christmas?!

Christmas is only 2 1/2 weeks away, amazing how quick another year has gone by. One of the busiest times of the year ahead of us now as we all know. For the racing industry it means race meetings galore because a lot of people have off work and can go to the races!

What a close finish, but Uli just made it!
(Thanks to Atkins Photography for these great photos)

Uli Urs Utz gave us a great early christmas present by winning a 0-68 1200m Hcp at Morphettville on Saturday, 28th November. We weren't quite sure if Uli was up for a win in town but he just pulled it off. He is still happy and going strong, so his next start will be on Saturday 12th December running in the Star of Xmas series in a Class3 race over 1200m. It will certainly not be easy but having won 3 out of 5 starts, his toughness should certainly get him through this one as well. You can watch Uli's last win here.

Next to Uli, there will be a few others racing this weekend.
On Friday at the twilight meeting at Morphettville, we will see Tolderol Teaparty in a 2000m 0-71 Hcp. He is going pretty well, probably his best preparation so far, more mature and focused.
Up for even further is Redwood Lass. She has always liked running on in the finish and a 2000m maiden race should possibly suit her.
We will also see Bell Magic having her debut that day. She will hopefully run as fast as she shows us in training and trials in the 1050m maiden SW for 3yo fillies.
On Sunday, we are heading to Bordertown with 3 horses.
Spinning Spanner pulled up well from his first run and is ready to go a little further. He will start in the 1300m maiden. He should improved with distance and experience.
There is also a nice race for Oriental Sling first up after a spell. She normally races well fresh so we have decided to give her a race instead of a trial straight up. The 1100m Class 1 should suit her well.
Her full sister Oriental Consort is also back after a short spell and by co-incidence racing on the same day first up in a 1100m Mdn. She has certainly got good chances if she meets the right field. She has come back much stronger and more mature, ready to show us what she is made of.

Next week on Wednesday at Strathalbyn, we have another comeback from Storm century, the big boy from Darwin, in a 1350m Mdn.
Also ready for a run is Skyconi again for another try, this time fresh over 1100m.

Hot winners!

The first heatwave is overcoming SA. We went straight from winter to summer. With a little breeze to it, it actually hasn't been too bad down here. We probably mind it more than the horses do as they don't know airconditioning!

Tolderol Teaparty certainly didn't mind the heat at yesterday's race meeting at Strathalbyn. He started at just over $2 favorite and travelled well to win the  slowly run 2000m race easily.

Uli Urs Utz has also turned out to be an exciting prospect having won 2 out of his 3 racestarts. He still shows great enthusiasm to do his work and we find a big similarity to his brother Scary Smokovec with his love of going as fast as the legs go.
He is getting prepared to race again on Saturday week at Morphettville which we are really looking forward to.

Newcomer Bell Magic has had her first trial and still has a lot to learn but the filly by Bellotto has certainly done everything right this preparation.

Also in work and getting ready to trial in a few weeks time are Midgeywah and Oriental Sling back after a spell and 4yo newcomers Zimbardo and a gelding by Generous.
Also back on track and working on their fitness are Oriental Consort, Storm Century, Kyneton Lad and Scary Smokovec.

Tuscany View is recovering from his trip to Melbourne and will soon be seen on tracks over here again.

We are expecting to see Redwood Lass, Skyconi and Varsovia try their hardest at the race meeting on the 22nd November at Strathalbyn.

Photos of the newborn foals this year as well as our yearling that are getting ready for the yearling sales soon are coming up soon.

Winners, winners, winners
More chances, more winners- our horses are showing what they are made of!

The first starter Uli Urs Utz, Scary Scmokovec's half brother by Blevic toughened it out when he won his first start over 1000m at Morphettville on Wednesday the 16th September. Uli just loves running just like Scary and everyone agreed the grey 4 year old looked the best in the mounting yard. You can watch Uli win click here.

Newcomer Oriental Consort did a good job finishing midfield in a 1200m maiden at Murray Bridge the following week as she didn't get the best of runs, she will have a few weeks off now and should come back and win!

Another new face at the races is Varsovia, who ran 2nd first start after flying home for the finish. She has a lot to learn but we have a lot to look forward to as well!

We had a huge chance to get a double yesterday. Tolderol Teaparty made a great start of it winning over 2050m at Strathalbyn. He won well and bolted home for jockey Paul Gatt's 999th win. You can watch Tolderol Teaparty win here.
Cocky Chaff finally broke his maiden nicely on the 12th August.
He nearly made it Paul Gatt's No1000 but just got beaten on the line to run 3rd yesterday-
still a great effort!

Redwood Lass ran on nicely, but too late to get to the finish first.
She will need a bit further next time.

Tuscany View made a fantastic debut back from a spell storming home for 2nd in a 1250m Hcp at Morphettville Parks on the 26th September.
He is fit and bright and might be the next Murray Bridge Cup winner!

We have also got the first 2 foals of the season- a chestnut half
brother to Uli Urs Utz and Scary Smokovec and a filly by Fraar out of Phones with Flair

10 August 2008
More winners
A few horses are back on track ready to race soon and we also have some more youngsters to look forward to.

Lady Aspen showed a nice effort winning a Class 3, Fillies and mares Hcp at Morphettville on the 23rd of July.

Midgeywah broke her maiden at Balaklava on the 6th August as she fought hard to get to the line first.

Dominik Torneur, winning jockey on both, Lady Aspen and Midgeywah, has high hopes for more winners in Wednesday 12th August riding Cocky Chaff and Lady Aspen. Tolderol Teaparty is also getting a run with high expectations. Can he win again first up?

Tuscany View got the most out of his last preparation and won a Hcp at Morphettville. He deserved a spell and is now fresh back on track.

Some of the youngsters back in preparation are Uli Urs Utz, full brother to Scary Smocovec, a full sister to Shanghai Lil, Skyconi, Redwood Lass, Kyneton Lad, Bell Magic, Descending Light and Varsovia.

26th March 2008
Busy times
Now that the 8 yearling, that got prepared for the Magic Millions Yearling Sales 2009 have gone, we thought it might get a little bit quieter. We were wrong.
The 8 foals are ready to be weaned soon and a long list of horses in work keeps us busy.

Tuscany View is back on the track running on strongly to finish 4th in the 1600m listed Adelaide Guineas on the 9th March and finishing 4th again in a 1600m 3yo Hcp on the 21st of March. He will soon run over further distances, hopefully sticking to Jockey Craig Newitt, who has high expectations.

Tolderol Teaparty gave us a good surprise winning the 1350m 0-62 Hcp at Strathalbyn on the 11th February.

Tuscany View has shown a great effort running 4th in the 3yo 1610 m P Dwyer & P Blencowe Hcp at Flemington on Saturday. He was a bit unlucky again as there was no pace in the race, but jockey Dwayne Dunn confirmed, he felt great and is going to be up for more after recovering from the long trip.

Gawler 13th August
Acceptances Cheltenham 20th August
Oriental Sling tried hard to still finish 4th in the 1050 Class 1 race on wednesday at Gawler. Jockey Michael Hoppo was happy with the run and said, she felt good considering the 2.5 kg weight difference to the ones finishing infront of her on the heavy track, but is also just ready for a spell now.
Lady Aspen will be running in the 1266m 0-68 Hcp on Wednesday at Cheltenham.
9th September
Cheltenham 6th September
Tuscany View hadn't had a start for 5 weeks and raced too fresh on Saturday, finishing 4th. His next start will be on the 27th September and he will improve by his recent run.

We are also happy to have our first 2 foals of the season.
A brown Fraar filly out of Phones With Flair and a bay Face Value Colt out of Oriental Queen.

A Feathered Tale has done it again! The 9 year old mare won on Sunday at Murray Bridge and is just at her peak.
7 wins and 27 placings show her big heart for racing.
Tolderol Teaparty also ran a good race on the dy finishing 5th, but running on very nicely.
Tuscany View finished 4th again Cheltenham today and is getting ready for the 1800m Hill Smith Stakes in 2 weeks.

Another 2 foals have been born.
A chestnut Real Jester filly out of Soliciteuse and a bay Blevic filly out of Gold Appeal.

26th October
Tuscany View and Tolderol Teaparty in Melbourne
Tuscany View has shown great effort running 2nd (by 0.2L) in the 1800m 3yo listed Hill Smith Stakes at Cheltenham on the 11th October.
You can look at an article about the race on Media.
It was a good race to see, if he can keep up with stronger fields and get ready for the AAMI Victoria Derby at Flemington. A 4th in the 2206m Geelong Classics Derby Trial has qualified him for his big day this Saturday which we are all looking forward to!
Tolderol Teaparty has joined him in Melbourne after showing improvement running 2nd in a 2200m 0-68 Hcp at Murray Bridge on the 15th October. He ran on nicely and finished 5th at the 2406m 0-68 Hcp at Geelong on the 22nd October. He will probably have his next race on Friday at Moonee Valley.

Another foal has been born out of Voice mail, a half brother to Voice Commander, who has just won at Rosehill in a 1400m 1MW 3yo and up on the 25th October.
The pictured of the foals are now online at Breeding.
5th November
AAMI Victoria Derby, the BIG DAY
We are very proud of Tuscany View running 8th in the 2500m AAMI Victoria Derby at Flemington on Saturday against a group of top class horses. He has done the best he can and now he really deserves a spell.

Tolderol Teaparty ran 5th at a 3000m race at Moonee Valley on Friday night. He was probably not asked for his full potential and pulled up well, so he will be looking for more races at long distances.
3rd December
All foals well and happy
8 foals (3 colts, 5 fillies) have been born in total. Even the maiden-mares Full Spec, Phone and Just Emma did very well and the foals are very good-looking. More photos of the foals are online now at the Breeding section.

The only one fit to race is Tolderol Teaparty who finished 5th again at the 2255m 2MWLY 3yo and up at Cheltenham on the 15th November.
He is nominated for the 2430m 0-91 hcp at Cheltenham on Saturday and will do his best.

A few horses are currently getting ready for racing in the near future again including Oriental Sling, Scary Smokovec, Cocky chaff and East Terrace as well as some unraced horses like Descending   Light and Uli urs utz (Scary's half brother),

We also got new oats, which is normally no big deal, but this time we had a semi, that was amazing to get in and out of the yard. You can see the very close operation on the photo.

Some photos of the DERBY DAY 2008 on the owners section (thanks John).

Double wins and seconds at Strathalbyn

What a day we had on Wednesday, 17th February at Strathalbyn. It was a mixed bag of emotions and started with the saddest thing that can happen to a stable, losing a horse. The foal out of Soliciteuse, Uli and Scary's little brother got very sick very quickly and even though the vet tried their hardest we lost him to Pneumonia.

But then as the day went on it was one of the best racedays we have had in a long time!

It all started with Spinning Spanner winning the 1600m Mdn. It was meant to be his day to win and it was! Kyneton Lad overraced a little bit and pulled but finished it off reasonably considering the hill up towards the finish line is pretty hard running. You can see the finish here.

Next to run was Tolderol Teaparty who ran a fantastic race finishing 2nd. He had 60kg on his back, much more than anyone in the race and got beaten by 5 kilos more in his back, but he battled!

Oriental Sling showed off running a beautiful 2nd as well, the winner was just too strong, but she did a good job.

After a very long day it was a great finish with Scary Smokovec, the grey 9yo, winning his 10th race in his career. He is going as good as ever and it was just the day for him to honor his little brother! To see Scary win, click here.

We will see Kyneton Lad and Redwood Lass going around in the 1600m Mdn at Murray Bridge on Wednesday, 3rd March.

The yearlings are going well, they will be down at the Magic Million Yearling Sales in Adelaide on either Saturday, 6th or Sunday 7th of March to be viewed and getting sold on the 9th and 10th

16th April 2010
Scary Smokovec, "Oakbank specialist"!

The 9 year-old grey is having the preparation of his life and has shown us again how much he loves that hill and of course the big crowd at Oakbank. Winning by nearly 4 length on easter Monday, 5th April, ridden by Michael Hoppo, he just bolted home to get the trophy for the grey-horsed handicap that he also won 4 years ago combined with a win on the Saturday meeting.
He can watch this fantastic win here.

We also saw 2 good efforts from Oriental Sling and Kyneton Lad
at Clare on easter Saturday.
Both ran into tough competition and did well finishing 2nd and 3rd.

Tolderol Teaparty ran 3rd this Wednesday 14th April at Strathalbyn, got boxed in and just didn't have that "kick" to win. He will well entruly deserve a spell now after a fantastic preperation.

Lady Aspen had a gallop there first up but just got tired and it was worth it as part of her preparation to come back from a long spell.

Kyneton Lad will now have a spell too, he has shown huge improvement in his races so far as well as more maturity and we are sure he will come back much bigger, stronger and even more mature. Certainly a horse to look out for in the future!

We are looking forward to see Scary Smokovec and Oriental Sling in action again at Naracoorte next Thursday, 22nd April, both in best form, with Paul Gatt on board.
17th March 2010
2 in a row for Spinning Spanner

A busy race-week proved to be a successful one too.

Adelaide Cup Day was the day for Kiss The Cash who has transferred from another stable to be gate-trained. Even though she slightly missed the start, she ran a fantastic race to win the 1100m mares race. You can watch her win click here. She is now spelling.

At the pre-easter race meeting at Oakbank on Saturday 13th March, we saw Scary Smokovec flying down the hill into the straight finishing next to 4 others in a line. He tried hard and ran well to finish 5th, 1 length behind the winner. A good effort for the oldie in a quality class of racing, still bright, happy and competitive!

Tolderol Teaparty also ran on the day, he seemed a bit flat but pulled up ok, so we are currently finding out if he was not well or is just asking for a spell.

The weekend went on with Sunday's race-meeting at Clare Valley on the 14th March.

Kyneton Lad was our first of the day and he was quite unlucky to get beaten by 0.4 length. He had a tough run and we are very happy with his efforts. It was also the first time that this young lad actually raced, he has always tried hard but the penny has dropped, that you don't just run as fast as you can, which is great! You can watch his race click here.

The next race for us was Spinning Spanner, even though he has been showing signs of wanting a spell lately he could beat this field easily. In the 1700m Class 3 he was above his class and not up to far distance yet but he just cantered to the line winning easily. You can watch his race click here.
He will now have a spell to come back bigger and better.

Oriental Sling didn't get every chance on the day as she got beaten to run 3rd. The horse, that won, ran an outstanding race and she only just got beaten to run 2nd.
She has been racing very consistently and we are pleased with her efforts. You can watch her race click here.

The Yearling Sales are over and we have 3 lucky owners of the 2 colts and 1 filly that we sold. Congratulations!
